About Me

My love of baking started at the age of 12 when, at a friend’s house, I baked my first batch of chocolate chip cookies from scratch. At that point I was hooked and read cookbooks like they were novels, poring over cake recipes and photos of decadent desserts. I’ve always loved art and to me, dessert is art you can eat.

I am originally from Orlando, Florida, but now live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with my husband and two sons. I work as a part time baker, and am in the process of starting my own bakery, Star Confections. In addition to baking and blogging I enjoy movies, sci-fi (especially Doctor Who!), writing, drawing, painting, DIY projects, reading, and traveling.

Hi from Twitter!! Just sent you a DM. I grew up in Winston from the age of 10 on, and still have family there. Funny how I’m in South Florida now, and you are from Orlando. I’ve been down here for almost 18 years now with a pitstop in Hawaii for 3 years. Nice to “meet” you!
